Dead Rising 2 (PC)

Category : , , , , , , ,
If you are familiar with Dead Rising, then you'll definitely love this new installment of the game. For those who are new to this, Dead Rising is a zombie killing game much like the popular 'Left 4 Dead' series but with much more arsenal and creativity. Dead Rising 2 brings more weapons, skills and vehicles to slaughter wave after wave of zombies. I'm not much for words at the moment so i made this short pro's and con's list for a quick read.

Pros
- Hundreds if not thousands of weapons, from scissors to a lawn mower as your arsenal
- Different weapon combination means more ways to kill zombies
- All weapons have a certain amount of durability adding strategy, not just hack and slash
- Difficulty increases as you progress through the game, making it less boring
- Costumes
- You can enjoy the zombie mayhem with your friends
- You'll never run out of zombies to kill!

Cons
- PC versions seems to be unfurnished, controls are too packed, not taking full advantage of the keyboard, to make things worst, you can't edit the controls
- ALL missions are timed, which means you cant take a break and just kill zombies while your in story mode
- Vehicles (which costs a lot in game) are limited to the area you bought them
- Missions do not state if your going to fight a mini boss or save a survivor, therefore you have to save every now and then just to make sure.

Left 4 Dead 2 : Let's get Infected!

Category : , , , , , , ,
This review is a little late, but what the hell. XD

Having been released a month ago, Left 4 Dead 2 still remains as one of the most played game all over the country. Aside from the new set of survivors, L4D2 also upgraded their Zombies. Now you're not limited to using Hunters, Smokers, and Boomers as a few more infected Zombies were added, the Spitter, the Charger, and my personal favorite, the Jockey.

L4D2 still has the same game play as the first one, only you can upgrade your guns now, with exploding ammo and laser pointers. Oh and, the guns are a little more kick-ass this time, but you probably won't use it as much since melee weapons were also added. From crowbars to Xeph's favorite katana, I doubt you'll even remember that you have a gun. I still love my magnum, though, so I rarely use the melee weopons. Sadly, you can't equip all of them... HAHA.

A few things for support were added, like the defibrillator, which ressurects dead team mates. And the Adrenaline shot which sort of works like pills. Oh, and btw, a boomer vial is added to, it fits in the bomb slot where our beloved pipe bombs and molotovs are placed.

Here's the thing though, you have to make lots of friends to play this game, since the AIs aren't much fun to play with, they can't even help you survive that much. L4D2 is much more challenging than it's predecessor, it's really a prick when you don't have anybody to play it with. So go socialize, you loner! Just remember though, more friends mean more people to share that last batch of medkit with. XDD

Enjoy!!!

P.S. Here's a little guide for killing those big-ass Tanks.

Borderlands

Category : , , , , , , , , , ,
I feel so useless, making Xeph review all the games. Haha. No, I'm kidding. He's lost without me. LMAO. Anyway, moving on...

I'm --We're here to review a game we enjoy playing together, well, 'cause it's co-op and it's fun and fun-ny. Lol. Ladies and Gents... Borderlands was seriously made to make you laugh. In a good way. It is not your typical FPS as there is an RPG element added to it. It makes murder look fun and, really very exciting. Let us first get to know the story and the main characters...

The game starts with 4 people riding on a bus, Mordecai, Lilith, Roland and Brick. Mordecai is basically a hunter who prefers using snipers, a sharp shooter in the literal sense. He also has a pet, bloodwing, which helps damage or kill enemies when released. Lilith plays with elements and plays it good, you can choose to mess with her or you can just walk away, either way, she will own you. Elements aren't her only toys, she also has a wide variety of skills to help you... die. Not to mention all those weapons. Tsk. Tsk. Roland is our well appreciated soldier, he can heal allies, and he can deploy a shield turret. He is proficient with all weapons but is exquisitely good at assault rifles and shotguns. The fourth, and well if I said not the least it wouldn't do justice, is Brick, our resident tank. I could give him some shotguns and explosives, but that won't be fun would it? I'd rather watch him pulverize you with his fists, as if that isn't enough. Ha! Okay, so the game is set on a planet called Pandora which is filled with aliens and valuable resources. After choosing between the four characters I just introduced, you will be starting your search for the vault. And you are asked to finish quests on the way. Claptraps --robots, basically-- will help you on the way as well as a beautiful woman which appears on your screen from time to time called "Guardian Angel".

Let's move on to the game play, shall we? Like I said it's an FPS with an RPG element added to it. How, you ask? How you play it is completely FPS, however, you also level up and you gain skills not to mention those quests... you gain money, but you can farm for your things, because mobs drop them and so do the bosses. Skills have elements too. Some are active, some are passive and some are for support purposes. This game can be played alone, but I would recommend you to play it with friends. It's much much enjoyable that way. Guns also vary, you don't just pick one up and shoot, they have value. Like in RPGs, they vary from colors. And names as well. As if the story line isn't enough to consume your time, side quests are also given. Free roam is also another way to describe it. As you level, the mobs level with you, I mean they have the same level as you, who would mind a little challenge? I know I don't. There are exaclty two playthroughs and a max level of 50. 1 playthrough is not enough, believe me.

I can't even begin to describe and evaluate the equipments. There is too much of them! And the guns, oh the guns, 17 million of them waiting to be discovered and used, skillfully I hope. I suggest you leave your life for a moment, as this game is time consuming. So, how about it? Why not give Borderlands a go?

Resident Evil 5 for the PC

Category : , , , , , , , ,
Resident Evil 5 was supposed to be a horror survival game like it's predecessors, but after playing it, it seemed to lose it's "horror" sense and became more on a third person shooting game. But don't get me wrong, the game itself is a lot of fun. The story takes place in Africa where the two protagonists of the game is on a mission to stop a terrorist plot to infect the world with a new biological weapon. You play Chris Redfield, and later in the game, you get to unlock his sidekick, Sheva Alomar to be playable. Like the other Resident Evil games, you get to unlock different "stuff" depending on how you play the game, which really boosts RE5's lifespan.

Gameplay wise, RE5's AI is well balanced on which difficulty you choose, but even in veteran difficulty sometimes your not-so-mindless enemies make pretty damn good easy mindless targets. Aside from your occasional free kill zombie, the game offers a handful of boss and mini-boss to always keep you on your toes. Don't think RE5 doesn't have any goodies for you aside from hordes of semi-zombie enemies, no no no. Re5 also features a very wide range of arsenal at your disposal, ranging from your basic CQC knife to your RPG that will leave you in awe as you see debris of flying bodies after firing it. Almost all the weapons in your disposal are upgradable and has it's own unique feature from other weapons.

All in all RE5 is a great game to play and I advise you not to miss it out specially if your a Resident Evil fan like me. The best thing about this is you can play with a friend to heighten the experience as well as the entertainment. Although some may not like the stand-still-while-shooting gameplay of RE it is still a must try if your new to this genre.

Fly with me! or.. err with your friends

Category : , , , , ,
Tom Clancy's H.A.W.X is an arcade flight combat simulator. If you are expecting or have heard that this is a flight simulator, I'm telling you now, it's not. H.A.W.X brings back the old school arcade style of air to air/air to ground combat without any complications that you get from the wide array of flight simulators on the market today. This game provides a simple way to engage enemies from above or below without breaking a sweat (well... sometimes). Although H.A.W.X resembles the ever popular Topgun it offers much more.

I have a very soft spot for things that blow up in the air and an even softer spot for taking a jet in the air. I have loved every game that offers me the sky, and I loved them even more if they allow me to shoot something out of it. Now aside from Topgun, H.A.W.X offers all the things I want with a bonus, amazing graphics and sounds. The great thing about H.A.W.X is that even if your not a hardcore fan of arcade flight combat simulators you'd still like this game. H.A.W.X has a simple interface, a very straight forward combat and flight system. It's doesn't take too much effort to quickly get around in playing H.A.W.X. Sometimes people think that these kinds of games takes some extra effort in getting used to, well it's not. If you can shoot a zombie in L4D or kill a terrorist in CoD then you can definitely shoot a plane in H.A.W.X.

The graphics are well designed allowing a very detailed look on the planes. The only downfall on the graphics is that it focuses mainly on the sky and the planes. The ground work is pretty much rubbish but then again you rarely look and take awe at the ground when your killing enemy planes in the air. A fair warning though, the very fine detail of blurs and then tossing and turning might not suit some players who isn't accustomed to air combat games, so you may feel a little nauseous after a mission or two.
The coup de grace of H.A.W.X is the wide range planes you can unlock throughout the game. There are over 40 planes to discover and unlock. This is a paradise for all those fellow jet plane fenatics out there! The choice of planes ranges from the legendary A-10A to the famous F-22 Raptor. Any jetplane fanatic like me will stare at awe when they see the vast veriety of planes H.A.W.X has to offer, the best part is you can take them to the skies!
