This might be a late review, but since our blog didn't exist when Dead Space was released I guess there's no better time to give my review about it today. Dead Space is a horror survival game where you have to fight your way through mutated human beings. You play Isaac who's on a mission to find his wife on a the mining ship "Ishamura". What's the difference between Dead Space and the majority of the horror survival games out there? Well, Dead Space has some unique features, one of which is your mutated enemies are vulnerable when you shoot/cut their limbs, not their head. I'm not a big fan of horror survival games, but I did enjoy Dead Space so I thought it's worth a review.

At first it might be hard for some people to play Dead Space due to the odd camera angle. But the slightly uncentered 3rd person view isn't there by mistake. I found out that being attacked from behind and actually seeing it without turning around makes me jump off my seat most of the time. Another factor that makes this truly a horror experience is that sometimes your enemies are playing possum, lying on the floor until you come too close and they pounce on you. Aside from faking dead, your enemies sometimes transform corpses into mutated aliens infront of you. Dead Space also introduces two unique objects, the stasis and kinesis module. The stasis module can slow fast obejects to a crawl while the kinesis module lets you moves objects from afar and use them as weapons. Both these modules help you in though encounters and some puzzles scattered throughout the game.

Although I'm not a huge fan of horror survival games, Dead Space offers a long and interesting story line that will keep you occupied for quite some time. If you are a fan of horror survival games then you should definitely try this game out. And for those who are like me, not much of a fan of this kind of genre it's worth a second look. I enjoyed this even though it scared the crap out of me most of the time.

This game is scary as hell, the most frightening game I've played on PC. I can say it's still far better than FEAR in shocking you. I even didn't finish this game due to this problem :D
