I asked my Dad why bother being a member of an auto club. I know he's a gear head but isn't it being too extreme? Sure they've got monthly cookouts and some shows but that's about it. I really found it useless until one day last summer. My Dad's old car broke down. Far from a gasoline station and with no other vehicles on the road, he simply rang them up. A tow truck and a mechanic soon arrived and helped us out. Now I know why he spends time with his auto club. Now I know why he pays his annual dues. It's for times like this that you need roadside assistance. When I get my own car, I'll definitely sign up with one too.
