Ubisoft has decided to close down their Shadowbane servers on July 1. This post serves as our tribute as Shadowbane draws near it's impending doom.

Shadowbane is a massive online hardcore PK (player kill) game. Saying it as a PvP (player vs player) game is a BIG understatement. Death comes in every corner of Shadowbane, and there is no escaping it. The PK environment in Shadowbane is so intense that everytime you die, you loose everything in your inventory, and sometimes your equipment gets destroyed. Players get a chance to conquer areas and use it to build their own castles for future defense. Massive wars erupt occasionally when a guild wants to build a castle but there are no areas to build it in, so they take an area from other guilds. But these castles are no safe zones, you can attack everyone anywhere, there is no place for mercy if you choose not to give it! Basically, Shadowbane doesn't offer much on other area of games such as crafting or quest. It's a PK game, all you need is to level and get some gears, then kill anything/everything to your liking.
The other element that we liked in Shadowbane is that it's an anti-whiner community. It's a PK game, and if someone cries about it, be sure that the veteran players along with 95% of the community will not tolerate it. If you can't handle the PK, don't play Shadowbane, it's a simple rule made by players. There are a lot of games out there that claims to be a "PK" game but the community whines a lot about it, but not Shadowbane, I can assure you that.
Aside from the massive PK environment Shadowbane has, it also delivers a wide array of multi-class-ing (Different sub-class on top of you main profession) which takes character building into a whole new level. Not only do you have to focus on where to put your stat points, but what other sub-class can you combo it with the main class you chose to lite

rally whipe out anyone that dares to defy you. To give you an idea on how huge the list of class combos you can play with, Shadowbane has 12 races, 4 classes, 22 professions and an amazing 48-discipline sub profession to choose from! One character can have 1 class, 1 profession and 3 disciplines, all for the purpose of killing each other. You can blink (short distance teleport), swim, fly, and even morph your way into killing your prey. While most of the disciplines in Shadowbane offer players the ability to massacre their victims in different ways imaginable, some are also dedicated for those "Siege" events wherein massive amount of players clash with one another for the sake of taking over/defending a castle. All in all these wide variety of classes/sub-classes in Shadowbane will definately test your imagination on the different ways you can slaughter other players in game.
Too bad Shadowbane will be closing it's doors soon, but we will never forget how much it contributed to the gaming world.
