(Top 5) #1 : No, It's not Warcraft!

Category : , , , ,
Welcome to the next generation of MMORPG
Aion is one of the most anticipated MMORPG to be released this year, and we had the privilege to play on it's Open beta stage at the China servers. Aion has one of the most beautiful graphics we have ever experienced. It's graphics is as flawless as it's gameplay. As gamers we teach ourselves to adapt to whatever games we play, but Aion did our job for us, and adapted to it's player's needs. From executing a beautiful combo to selling miscellaneous items this game makes playing as relaxing as it can be. No matter what angle you look at it, Aion has taken every feature that other successful MMORPG has, refined it, perfected it, and made it as flawless as they can. I wish I was exaggerating but I'm not, we were blown away by this game, thus making it our number 1 in such a short period of time.

Okay, time to break down why Aion is our number 1 game. Let's start with the basics, Aion has wonderful graphics, best that we had ever seen, no other game has ever come this close, and mind you, we haven't even maxed out our graphic settings yet, and it still managed to take our breath away. It is extremely easy to manipulate, the option settings has many, and I mean MANY buttons at the same time, their categorized positioning is accurate and avoids confusions, (i.e. : "what does this button do?"). Players are also given the option to customize their character's appearance (height, face, etc.). Sounds are the same as it's graphics, the combat music really puts you in the mood, although it might be repetitive for some, but who really listens to default game music nowadays? We also commend the developers for doing such a great job interpreting the classes' purpose, ability and skills, especially the way they programmed the Assassins.

There are 4 classes with 2 sub-classes each, the sub-classes can only be attained once your character reaches level 10.

The first class, the Warrior, specializes in close quarter combat. Players who choose this class may later on advance to being either a Templar or a Gladiator. The Templars not only serve as front liners they also have the ability to heal and protect allies. The Gladiators on the other hand, can inflict massive damage on an enemy. Blessed with a wide variety of weapons and skills, a Gladiator's main goal is to kill the enemy and nothing more.

The second class is our favorite among the classes, the Scout. Scouts are given a wide variety of play styles. They excel most with speed and stealth. Agility is a Scout's best friend and they use it pretty well. When you choose this path you may advance later on to being a Ranger or an Assassin. Aside from the usual bow and arrow combo, rangers may also wield daggers and swords. Equipped with a wide range of skills, rangers are adept at observing and utilizing their surroundings. Assassins are masters of speed and stealth, they use it to terminate enemies. But speed and stealth also applies on the player controlling them, of course their speed is yours to decide. And the outcome depends on how skilled you are when using them. Unlike warriors, Assassins are not newb (or NOOB!) friendly, they require good logic and strategy. Like we said, the developers interpreted this class unbelievably well. If you're expecting a kickass/hardcore Assassin you see in movies or in games, well, Expectation EXCEEDED!

The third class is never left out in any MMORPG, the Mage, of course. As we all know, Mages are given the ability to inflict devastatingly heavy magic attacks, thus making them the most dependable damage dealers. It's sub-classes are, the Sorcerer and the Spiritmaster. The Sorcerers follow the path of magic. Mastering the four elements of nature, once they strike the enemy is surely out. The Spiritmasters, being true to their name are masters of the spirits, they summon pets to aid them in battle. Spiritmasters are very interesting and very challenging to use.

Of course, the last but not the least would be the Priest. What MMORPG would be complete without the support? You may later on advance to either a Cleric or a Chanter. Clerics focus on healing his allies and have the ability to resurrect the fallen. With a mace and a shield in hand, though they may not deal massive damage, they can still be useful. The Chanters can also heal allies but focus more on the buffs. Kind of like the modern day cheer leaders, they boost their ally's morale. Chanters may wield a mace and shield aside from their main weapon, a staff.

Aion also provides the players with 8 professions, 6 of which are used for production and 2 for gathering.

As for the PVP, players are given points. The points awarded to you gives you the privilege to buy certain items like your high-end armor and weapons. Ranks are also important for as you rank up your wings will change in appearance depending on you rank of course. The war between factions are held mostly in the Abyss (the PVP zone), the Abyss have castles which can be controlled by one faction or the other.

Aion, by far, is the future of MMORPG, deal with it people. =P

And that concludes our top 5 favorite MMORPGs. Hope you guys enjoyed as much as we did writing about them.

P.S. Happy 57th Month to us, Xephi!!! Me wubs you.

I have played this game!
Although I didn't like it myself, I must say it's way better in my opinion than World of Warcraft.
